What tire pressure?

I just got new Cooper 285/75/16 ATPs from Discount Tire and they have me all over the road. I'm almost at 500 miles and I've read that most tires have a 500 mile break in. They put 65 psi in all 4 but I can remember running 50 in the rears and 60 up front with a set of Hancooks and got great tread wear. What are you're pressures and does anyone have any feedback on these Coopers? I'm going to give them another week and if they don't straighten up, I'm taking them back.

I'll have check out my ratings. I know the door jamb has it at 80lbs in the rear so I dang sure ain't going off that. Otherwise, I've been impressed with the tire. Do you have a link to a good, easy to follow mpg calculator for bigger tires? My speedo is reading 3mph slow...

My friend Ross just put a set of those on his Chevy dually this past winter...he won't stop trying to sell me a set, he says they are the best tires he has ever had...

I have had the best results running my tires at the factory rec'd pressure off the door jamb.

If you want to get technical about it:
Paint or chalk a line across the treads on one front and one rear tire then go for a short drive on dry pavement.
If the line wears off more on the outside of the tread pressure is too low.
If it wears more in the center it's too high.
You want the line to wear off evenly
For empty driving 65 front, 55 rear works for me.

I really liked them. I ran 65 front 55 rear and got 45k out of them. I would have bought them again but the Coopers were priced right.

I got the E rated STT and run 40psi rear and 45 front. handles perfect with zero sidewall flex!

I had the same problem with new Nitto 295/75/16s It went away after about 5K miles. I think it's related to the taller 75 sidewall. I run them 45/40 empty and 65/60 with a cabover.

I almost have 1k miles on them and they're starting to settle down. I'll reduce the pressure and see if that helps but it seems to me that less pressure would make the sidewalls flex more but I'll give it a try anyway.

I have Michelins and run about 78 psi in mine.
This is my 4th set of this same model of Michelins. I regularly get 90,000+ miles out of a set.

And Coopers are American-made by an American-owned company. No other tire company can say that!
