The passenger side floorboard of my 02 is wet from water dripping off the AC. Tried cleaning the drain hole, which didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

 

Put a piece of hose on the outlet pipe - keeps wind from blowing water back in.

 

I went to Auto Zone and bought a 3/4", 90* piece of rubber hose. It fits snuggly and seems to have cured the wet floor.

 

Are you sure its not your rear window seal? Mine leaked like a seive.

 

The guy that replaced my windshield said it was probably the third brake light leaking. I replaced the seal and that did not fix the wet floor. It appears the little "L" shaped hose done the trick.

 

Thanks for the replies. The vent nearest the passenger side window doesn't blow much air out, so maybe the problem is related. Dealer said they'd have to take off the entire dash to get to it, which would take a long time to take off and put back on which would of course = $$$ in labor hours, so I'm really trying to avoid that.

I'm going to try the fixes listed here first, does anyone know of a good AC shop in the north Dallas area?

 

Try the hose and 3rd brake light seal first. Less than $20 for both. I bougth my light gasket from Manual in Richardson....1/2 the price that Huffines wanted.

I took the step plate and the kick guard off of the passanger side, then wiped, mopped up as much water as I could, proped it up, and left a fan on it for a couple of days. It takes a looong time to dry out the padding.

Try this first and it may save you a lot of $$$.

 

It's not a brake light issue, as there is no water between the lamp and the front floor board. I'd think that if it was the brake light, the back seat floor would be wet as well. I'm going to try the hose fix on the drain hole and see what happens.

 

Don't count on it not being the third brake light. Mine was leaking and did not show a wet back floorboard either. It only leaked when it rained..I know, duh, but what I'm getting at is, if your floorboard is getting wet(ter) and it hasn't rained(or been washed) then it's not the light.

 

If you have a lot of moisture in your carpet a quick effective method of removal is to set a dehumidifier in the cab. Leave the cab totally closed up for an evening with the dehumidifier running with an empty tank. You'll see how much you remove in the AM!

 

I got some black hose and a small metal band screw clamp, fit the hose over the drain, clamped it down, curled it around so it's facing to the back of the truck, and attached it to the inside of the fender well with some wire (made a small hole in the plastic of the fender well shield). Seems to have fixed the problem. I'll take pictures later.
