Water leak

Well the storm of the year hit us last night and this AM , I headed off with the family to the local ski mountain for the first real snow to play in. I had to shovel out the truck and there was a lot of snow still coming down. The drive to the slopes was slow as I don't seem to be getting any air out of my side window defrosters and the windshield ones are only slightly better. I do have heat it just doesn't seem to get to the windows. Anyway visibility was nil.
We made it to the mountain and spent a couple of hours thrashing around in the fresh powder. Got back to the truck, fired it up, turned on the fan with the control set to windshield defrost and noticed a stream of water pouring out of the floor heat duct that is just to the right of the tcase control.! A lot of snow had piled up on the truck while parked. I am guessing it melted against the warm windshield and somehow ran into the truck duct .
On the drive home the fan was making a ticking noise as if it was hitting against something. First time I have heard the sound. So I have a some symptoms , all related to the heat control and ducts. Has anybody been this way before and have any idea what is up and how to check it? What kind of job is it to access the heater fan and duct controls.
This is a 95 CTD 4wd.

If the steam you had in the cab smells a little like anti-freeze, your heater core is leaking.
