Warning!! Intercooler Line Chaffing...Check Yours!

I have an 02 2500 and just noticed that the battery cable looming on the pass side was resting on silver intercooler line. Well after 25000 miles, the battery cable looming has almost worn a hole in the silver intercooler line!

Check yours before it's too late! It came from the factory like this so I know I'm not the only one.

Actually, it's wasn't the rubber boot, it was the actual silver intercooler line that comes out of the bottom of the turbo. It actually wore little ridges like on the looming into that intercooler pipe and it was pretty deep too.

That looming is some tough stuff because it didn't even phase that looming.

Rick Harvey noticed that happening on mine when he was changing the turbo..He cut a 4" piece of 3/8ths" hose, then split it lenghtwise, and put it on the battery cable as a buffer. Zip tied it in place..Works real well..

So who else besides me and FMF has this issue? I wonder if Dodge will replace that intercooler line because mine's pretty bad.

what diameter is this line? i have a line probly 1/2" dia. that was being rubber by a loom in the same location you describe. i moved it up and twist-tied it to somthing out of the way to keep it from rubbing.

i think this is the same line you are talking about

Yep... that's it. Did it wear into your silver intercooler line?
