I got a couple questions, I got a set of ventvisors for my truck for Christmas and put them on, went pretty easy, but the problem I'm having now is they are starting to come off the mirrors. The set I recieved was for the 94-02 trucks from AWS. I started doing some research and realized there was another set that could be purchased.........00-02 w/ factory tow mirrors. As you can read in my signature that I did the power/heated tow mirror conversion on my 99. Question is what else can I do to try to hold them on or am I going to have to waste money and buy the right set I need for my truck. Thanks

 

After a few years mine started to slowly come off my toyota and I ran a bead of black silicone along them where they met the body. It worked well and they were still on the truck when I saw it last summer. After a lot of phone calls you can get a roll of the tape from 3M but that proved to be a real pain. I have the tow mirrors and vent visors on my truck and they fit really well. I got the wrong ones at first but took them back because there was quite a gap at the mirror. You might be able to trim them back with a dremel and make them look ok and still work. I doubt they will take them back once the tape is used. Try the silicone, if it doesn't work it cleans up pretty easily w/ denatured alcohol. Luck, Kurt

 

The look pretty good on there even though they are the wrong ones. covers the top of the mirror base some. I tried clear RTV but it didn't set up, plan on trying that first though. Thanks

 

I used the stuff for outdoors, its got UV protection so it won't yellow or break down from being outside. I can't remember the brand but if I see it at the lumber yard I'll post it. Kurt

 

I suggest getting the in-channel vent visors, which look better and require no glue/tape. I have them on my 96 and 99 and no contact with the mirrors.

3M has some double back tape for "outdoor" use. They say it will stick to a brick wall. I have used it a couple of times and it seems REALLY strong.

 

3m 5200 marine silicone toughest stuff I've found use it on my boat all the time

 

Weather Tech makes those. I also have them, and feel its far better than sticking stuff to my paint.

 

i would not suggest in-channel,both of my dads have cracked at the front edge from window going up.i've got the tape ons and havent had any problems

 

I have the "Weather Tech" brand on my truck and they have been there along time and they are the in channel set.Weather Tech has the best vision optics if you look through them as they do not distort the view as many of the other brands do when they are looked through.I have broken none,nor have they slipped at all down in the channel.They are worth every penny of the added cost over the other brands out there....Andy

 

I've had/got the stickons on just about every vehicle I've owned since moving to the PNW. We get below freezing to mid 90's here and well below zero to 105 in MT and I have never had a problem with the stick on ones. I used the black silicone to restick one after I threw my arm up to wave at a buddy and knocked the corner out of one on my old Toyota. Otherwise its probably still on there. kurt
