You need stinkin' 4 wheel drive! I think thats a little high for a 2 wheeler...

Just repainted..... I'd be looking for hidden body work...

I also see a rusty chassis in those pics so look close..... NE trucks get very rusty over time

the frame is nice. just dirt and stuff. i wiped it with shirt and you can still see undercoat. brake lines look great. there is bondo at the bottom of the doors and its startin to bubble but with the low miles and shiny paint. and nice options. i thought it was worth it. I dont know...

IMO, this is a $7k truck:

I would offer him $4k cash for it.

I think it's kind of high too. I just bought the truck that Palmetto kid posted a link to, and my truck lived the first 10 years of it's life in Oregon (No road salt, fairly dry climate) and the last two years in North Carolina, but was in the same family the whole time (Dad bought truck new, then sold it to his son a few years later). Son then traded the truck in 2 months ago on a Ford ranger, cuz he didn't need a big truck anymore, plus 5th gear nut came off. I found out the dealership gave him $2500 in trade....OUCH! Anyway, they fixed 5th gear nut, and had it priced close to $9K. I talked them down to $7K and got it! A couple of small dings & scrathes, and the silver is a little dull, but no rust, no bondo, no repaint, never in an accident. I can live with the other small items. Plus, if I did want to get it repainted, probably no bodywork, except for the 2 littel dings. I live in the midwest, and rust is a HUGE thing here. It seems no matter how well they "fix" the rust, aside from brand new body panels, it just comes bubbling back. Even though this truck is not for show, I'm going to tuck it away for the winter and drive a small beater car. It's just too solid to start exposing it to the salt and ice melt crap they spray on the roads here. It gets in all the cracks and sheet metal seams and starts eating it alive. In the past I would was my trucks in the winter religiously, and climb underneath to power wash them at least 1 time/weak, sometimes twice. It did fairly well, but occasionally I could see spots where rust would start to peek through or bubble.

Around here that 2 wheel drive truck woudn't be worth much, especially an auto. If it were a 5 speed maybe a little more. It looks nice, but the bubbling you see will only get worse. I'd say it's worth what you're willing to pay for it, but I'd offer him $3500 and maybe come up to $4000? No way I'd spend $7000 for that truck IMO.

I say the truck looks nice and if you make him an offer and he takes then you got a pretty solid truck. I looked at a 94 like that truck that needed a paint job with a 100k miles and guess what? It sold and the guy was firm on $5000 for it. If I owned that truck I wouldnt take 4k I would laugh at that offer. high fuel prices or not the truck still has a very strong engine and the body is nice. most of those trucks that year have 300k + miles and are ragged out and the owner still wants a fortune for it. to me the truck isnt a bad deal its worth what he wants in my opinion

Yea, we offered him 6200 and he said hed give it a week to think about. but come on. 117000 miles and it has the 47re auto and 3.54 gears. so he said it gets 22 mpg consistently.

i have the same truck and it does get right around 22mpg but 7k for that one isn't bad but its a little high for a 2wd, i don't see you being able to buy that truck and make much money on it reselling it. but my 2wd cummins i paid 1600 for and it needed doors, a rear bumper, a new hood, and a new bed and a new headliner. but runs and drives great and everything works fine, so i already bought some doors that aren't rusted for 300 and there pretty close in color a nd i bought a roll pan for 100, and im buying a cowl hood for 500 and a bed for 1000 and then another 1000 or less for paint and i'll be able to sell that truck for 5000 or 6k and it will have over 250k on it. but im probably just gonna keep it and drive it.

I just purchased a 96 4x4 SLT club cab with 176,000 for $7,250. The guys at the diesel specialty shop told me it was an awesome deal. It bluebooks at nearly $12,000. California truck, though- no rust, but does need paint. It seems all Dodge trucks need paint after 10 years or so. I think Dodge has a patent on crappy paint.

Seems high to me.

No one on this forum is driving the market down.....the average consumer and price of fuel is. No one is giving much for used diesel trucks now and I would not either. Look for a deal. There are alot of people in a bind with trucks they can barely afford before the diesel prices went up. If you are patient, there are some really good deals out there. Watch ebay.....
