Ok I have a set of 98-02 mirrors(manual ones)

and a set of 08 mirrors(power)

the question is how to make the manual ones power and the power ones manual

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I dont think the 08 tow mirrors are gonna work to swap on to the 98-02 mirrors. In 05 they changed the arms a little so if you try to swap them they don't fit right, there will be a gap of about 3/4 inch. Did you buy them new from chrysler? Maybe you could take the 08 ones back? Or are they used and maybe the early 3rd gen ones. Try comparing them with a tape measure to see if they are diferent where the arm meets the part that bolts to the door.

If they are wrong you have a couple choices,
a) Try and return the 08 mirrors and just use non power tow mirrors
b) Try returning the 08 mirrors and try to find earlier 3rd gen mirrors used
c) Try selling both sets and do a search for Kool-Vue's power heated tow mirrors, they just started making them not to long ago but I think everywhere that sells them is on back order part # dg49el and dg49er
d) Mount the 08 mirrors on the 98-02 mirrors but it will look bad

He's right about the 08 mirrors not working. I just did this conversion and luckily enough, I found out about the arm difference on TDR before I tore everything apart. I think it was in 06 when they changed the arm style, because I got lucky and my buddy has an 05 with the tow mirrors. So we put the 08 mirrors on his and then continued on with the swap using his 05 mirrors. Turned out great though, got to keep my power & heat Let us know what you end up with.

Tom,

No, you need the base from the 2nd gen and the head from the 3rd gen mirrors. The 3rd gens will not bolt right up to a 2nd gen.

like Jason said you need the base part that mounts to the door from second gen mirrors and the arm and head off of a third gen mirror but only up to 05 becouse the made a slight change on them and the newer ones don't work. Or you can order a set of Kool-Vue mirrors that are a direct fit, only problem is I think everyones back ordered, do a search on here for Kool-Vue.

I converted mine and could only get the newer mirrow. They are right when they say they don't match up completely, but they really don't look bad. I had posted pictures here before. The conversion does take a bit more work too.
