Hey you guys, ok, im in dire need of new tires for my truck and im looking for an aggressive A/T tire, but have no use or need for an M/T unless you guys can find a milder treaded one. Heres what i have come up with so far for my truck...

BFGoodrich ALl Terrain T/A



Dick Cepek Radial FC II



Cooper Discoverer S/T



Toyo Open Country A/T






If anyone is running these tires or knows anything about them PLEASE let me know, these are the tires ive limited myself to, including but not pictured the Bridgestone dueler A/T and A/T REVO

 

Have a look at the new Yokohama Geolander AT/S, it's the replacement for the AT 2, I just put a set on last week and they are a sweet tire. I just ran a set of Cooper S/T tires and got around 55,000kms on them. They worked well in all conditions and I was pretty happy with them but were a bit noisy and rough. I work with a guy who ran Cepek Fun Country II's and he got around 80,000kms on a set and they worked very well also.
These were all on a pair of 02 Ram 2500's with way more HP than stock which work in the oilpatch up here in Alberta, lotsa' gravel and rock involved in the 80,000+ kms we drive in a year.
Stay away from Toyo Open Country MT's, we both got around 40,000kms on them, they're WAY too soft.

I have the cooper st , not bad tire lode range d , I 'll never get that loae range again , go with e if ya can . The st wear pretty fast have 40 000km on them and they have about 1/3 left

 

I've had the Nittos for about 10k now they are wearing very well, smooth and quiet. Do good in rain, snow and mud. Got them on one of the tire sites for $160 each, or thereabouts? Happy so far. I used the B-stones on another truck and sold them with very low miles - it was a light truck though. Definitly stik with the load range "E" for sure.

 

do you have any pictures of the nittos on your truck, im curious how far they stick out and how the look on the 16x8 wheels

 

The best tire on that list is BFG!!! Do the other tires have 3 ply sidewalls/rim protection/ Severe weather rated?? If your truck is aligned properly you can easily get 60-80k out if them. Price is right in the middle.

 

im looking mainly into the Nitto and BFG......the rest are just backups lol

 

I got the 285x75x16 BFG AT T/A.
They came on the truck and they are in brand new condition.
So far I like them, just got my truck aligned yesterday.
Drives great, Just need to get my new front shocks on tonight.

 

Not sure if the others have bead protection or not but the Nittos do. As far as 3 ply sidewalls ? ? ? They are load range E and mine are 305/70/16.

 

I'm running michelin LTX M/S (mud and snow)

a little pricey, but the tread is deeper than any new tire i've seen! my buddy got 70K on his last set. I have 16K on this set and there barely showing any wear. The rubber is hard.

It was close to $800 for a set of four.

 

I went through this same dilemma earlier this year, and decided on the Yokahoma geolander AT ++. I always read that the BFG a/t was a good tire but wasn't as good in mud. Since I deal more with mud, and I know how to drive on other surfaces. The geolander is supposed to have better mud traction (at least from what I've read, and the tire tread looks like it should), so I opted for it, and I have been very happy with it. It has run better than all the other A/T's that I've used and abused.

 

Im running general grabbers.10 ply e rated severe weathers.It was a tossup inbetween them and the geos,but the geos were an 8 ply ,so no dice

 

Im running the 285 nittos on 16x9 wheels. They stick out a little further than I wanted but not too bad. Check my gallery, those pics are after 10k miles.

ill tell you the best tires for the money would be the bfg at's. they are really great tires, and will last forever. the second best tire would be the cooper st. my dad had a set of coop 35's on our old 04 powerstroke, and they were really good on there. pulled real good off road, and they were suprisingly quiet on road. sadly, we blew up/ melted the heads on that truck, and when we traded it in, the dealer kept the tires. running the cooper stt on my dads new 6.0, he loves them too, they have about the same road manners as the st, but are nice to have when it gets wet down here in florida. but all of those are just my $.02.
