I have read many posts recommending the Coopers for AT. The BFG KO's are also highly recommeneded, but some say they could do better in Mud.
I and several other are running the GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor,a new tire, with Kevlar. Rated excellent for everything, excellent writeups by Consumer Report, Quit as a road tire. 50k warranty. I have had no issues with them. They can be had for $145 in 235/85/16/E, other sizes priced accordingly.
Michelin is great, but because they wear well, there traction off raod has been an issue for some.
Good luck on your tires!

I have BFG'S 315/75/R16 and they last longer then any other tire I have used. I tow 6500 plus pounds everyday, those nittos suck, you wont even get 20,000 out of em

BFG KO A/Ts are not very good for mud (treads don't self-clean well enough.)
But I like them for everything else, have had real good luck with them on my '83 Dodge gasser 4x.

Getting about ready to put a set of 315s on my Cummins.

Im running general grabbers.10 ply e rated severe weathers. It was a tossup inbetween them and the geos, but the geos were an 8 ply ,so no dice
Does it ever end? There are no 10 ply or 8 ply RADIAL tires. That is only a marketing gimic. Most Load Range E tires are 3 ply sidewalls. The tread compound and groove depth determines the life. The flex in the sidewall - cushion if you will - which affect the ride quality of the tire - is determined by the compound chosen by each manufacturer. Michelin's ride great but have extremely soft sidewalls that scuff and puncture easily. Lots of choices, just stick with Load Range E. My next set will be Yoko's AT-s. Great look, affordable and tread life should be reasonable. However my factory Michelins are at 52K and have about 15K left on them. Hard to beat OEM rubber.

I am running the toyo's 265's sipped on my rig and really don't like them. Next tire I'll go with the BFG's or the toyo with a little more aggresive tread.

I have two frinds that have run the Cooper S/T and the BFG A/T, they both now run the Coopers. They are both good tires, they are both tough, and last, but the Coopers are better in mud, especially thick mud.

One thing that I have always had trouble understanding is why so many people like the BFG a/t if they have trouble in mud. The only thing that I have ever been stuck in is mud, or jeep trails that are hard to get through with TSL swampers and lockers, so why would you buy a tire that doesn't perform well in mud?

BTW, I've had my geolanders for 2500 or so miles now and they have been awesome on wet roads, and have performed flawlessly hunting. I expect nothing but good times with these tires. In comparison, my old firestone a/t's required using 4wd on inclines, creek crossings, etc.. New tires haven't slipped once yet.

A lot of the people I know that love the BFGs spend little to no time off road. They are better in mud than a highway tire (obviously) so they do tend to do better than what they are replacing in most cases.

I am planning on a set of the Yokahama's in a month or so. I guess I'll rob the money from my clutch fund...

I like the game counter in the sig. All I've gotten is 43 doves...

Guys like me and 4x4Dually take our trucks through the mud, not for fun, but to work. And hunting/fishing/camping. Yeah, they are heavy, but they have to get us and our stuff where we need to be.

well yea, but thats nothing like going to a mud bog every weekend with it.
thats more like, just going thru the mud when nessary.

thats sorta the point i was trying to make.
in a decent manner.

the best mud tires i've personally ever owned was my old 35x13.50x15 bias ply baja claws on my old 95 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 gasser. They deffinately were a handful while driving on the cement with the directional tread pattern.

It would be so much easier to get some stuff across if we could see facial expressions...

I seem to "need" to get through something nasty more often than most...

Almost worn out Firestone Steel Tex (265). I hate them, but they were on the truck when I got it. In the next month or so I am planning on getting a set of the Yokahama Geolander A/T (285). I loved the Cooper S/Ts the week I had them on my 99, but don't have the money to buy them again...
