Tire shop put Load Range C tires on =/

Got some new tires yesterday at "N----s Tire Shop" here in California.

Spend $120 per tire, $534 was the total bill, Cooper ATR
245/75/r16 Nice looking tires.... but its always something....

I've never been to this shop before, I know I'll never buy another tire there again. You just can't get what you pay for anymore. Next time I'm taking the wheels off and hauling them someplace else like I've did in the past.

I get home to wipe down the greese from the steering wheel,
shifter and center console, i mean talk about a mess. I mean its a simple green thing, windex wouldn't even budge the marks on the console. Luckily i have seat covers, theres black all over them, but can be washed.

I can't imagine you guys with new trucks, I'd be pretty mad if i had a newer one.

Check the Lugnuts, only torqued to 50 to 70lbs lovely eh? so i grab the torque wrench, no big deal.

Check the air 50lbs huh? thats odd i think.... I run 65 normally.

Check the load range. Load range C with a few choice words.... lol

Drive back, show the owner of the shop, he says "oh, uh uh uh"
I said you all trying to pull one on me? "oh uh uh, must been a shipping error, we have to reorder them, it won't be until next wednesday (1 week) until i can get replacements, i wasn't there when the help (kids) installed them" yada yada yada

While thinking BS. I think I'm in a bind with no ride now?

My question is: Is it safe to run on Load Range C tires? Luckily I'm not towing anything this week...

Did you select your own tires? I alway choose mine personally. My FIL took a 1st gen-V10 to Sears for tires. They were so weak he couldn't drive it home. Took it back and made them put the right tires on it.

Sears. I know. It wasn't me. And for some reason, my FIL loves buying tires. He just bought a new set for his F150. The ones he had were put on about 6 months ago, and he had a nail in one of them so he just got some new ones. Yes, he does have $$$ to burn. Hope I can stay married to the wife long enough to collect it. AND I hope he never reads this.

I just had to get new tires for the same reason was going to post this story but have not yet not trying to jack the thread but here goes. I bought my truck used at a Dodge dealer in OKC drove fine for a while and then started shaking went to check tire pressure 32 psi wow the front tires sidewall was turning brown check the tire rating it was a C, this was 4 months after buying the truck I found this out, my own fault luck the fronts did not give out on me. I have towed my bass boat a total of 3,000 miles on the tires and at speeds of 70 to 75 I feel lucky. The dealer offerd to give me new ones but I wanted to try the Nitto Terra Graplers.

Yes, monday morning 1st thing, called in with all the specs on it, said I have a 94 dodge 3/4 ton, 4x4 etc... wanted Cooper ATR, cause I've had two sets of Coooper AT's and they've been great to me, specifically stated range E, actually told him twice.

He said, I can't do it today, we don't keep them in stock, there special order tires (even though they have a big cooper sign hanging up on the outside of the building), but i can have it wednesday 1pm.

What if I hadn't noticed them and went down the road, caused a major accident due to the heavy front end blowing them out. Wouldn't it be there fault for not installing the correct tires?

Were a small town around here, I can't get to with them, hes problably related to someones uncles, brother's, cousins, sisters friend if you get what i mean. The next Cooper tire shop is 30 miles away, which I've bought the last two sets from, zero problems, i mean zero. With the cost of fuel, trying to save a buck.

Hes lucky, If I'd had been towing this holiday weekend, I'd make him put back my old ones and go someplace else so i can have a truck for the weekend. But were not going anywhere with a tow, so I can just drive the wifes car for now. Oh back to driving a gutless gaser, today was so much fun

I've parked the truck for now to be safe, you guys say its ok, but its just not worth the risk killing someone, we have alot of 2 lane roads around here.

Thanks for the opinions, just wasn't sure if I could drive on it or not. Drove it home 2 miles, but i drive 350 miles a week is another thing.

Overall, he should have verified what he ordered and what was put on the truck. If i was running that shop, I'd be thinking about liability issues, and start calling the nearest cooper dealers to find a replacement pronto! I'd think that would be the ideal customer service.

I drove my truck after I purchased it (used) for almost 20,000 miles on load Range C tires on the front. Went to rotate them and found out why my front end had been shaking! I would not worry about it, drive it if you need to, just don't load it lightly. He won't be able to re-sell the tires except as used now anyway, so use if it you need to. But...make certain he puts on the right tires or request a full refund.

Tires

When I bought my truck from a dealer used, It hat p265/75/16. I dont know why the idiot before me put them on there, so Now I got a set of 285/75/16 Bfg A/ts Load range D. They dont sell load range E in raised white letters. My buddy just got a set of A/ts for his truck but the Es and there only like a 100 lbs more per tire, I expected more.

ctd01... 265 75 16 is stock size on SLT... 245 75 16 on a regular model. I don't see anything wrong with 245 75 16.

Anyway, it is not all about the weight carrying capacity but the pressure rating also.

Also, make sure they put high pressure valve stems...yes, there is such a thing. I bought a set of tires about a year ago and they put the cheap valve stems in them which are only rated for I think 50psi. When I brought it back the owner told me they had done this before on an f350 on accident and while filling the tires to correct pressure of near 80psi the vavle stem blew right out of the rim. To tell the difference, the high pressure stems have metal walls the entire length.
