Anyway, it is not all about the weight carrying capacity but the pressure rating also.

I had Discount Tire Co. do that to me around Christmastime one year not too long after I got my '97.. Anyway, I paid for 4 michelin loadrange E's and drove them for almost 10kmiles when I rotated them after a few months of use. I checked the pressure and they were all @55psi..Hmmm... A little low... I wanted ~75psi in front to keep the corner wear down, and 55 in the rears unloaded...
I started reading the sidewall to remember just how high I could air them up to (thinking 75 or 80psi) and got a real shocker when it said 55psi max..
UhOh, read some more... LOADRANGE C!!!
I had a sinking feeling as I jumped up and pulled open the glovebox and pulled out the recipt for the tires.. Sure enough! Load Range E....
The next day I went down and asked to speak with the Mgr.. I was very nice and polite but was going to accept absolutely zero BS from anyone that day concerning those tires.
The Mgr listened to my story, pecked on the computer a moment to verify my account and started to appologize profusely for the mistake...
They pulled my truck ahead of others in-line and put the correct loadrange E tires on it.
I do believe it was truly an accident though. The Michelin loadrange C and loadrange E tire sure looked the same side-by-side... Anyway, the upside of it was I got ~10kmiles free use out of a set of "C's" before I started on the right ones...
Now I know why that tirejockey gave me such a funny look when he asked me how much pressure I wanted in my tires that first time.. I told him 75 front, 55 rear.. He gave me a funny look but never said a darned thing as he obviously went about putting 55 in front and rear..
Lesson learned... Always check everything somebody else does on your stuff...
