Question Temp readout in overhead console

Hey y'all, my temp readout in the overhead is reading a bit higher these days. It's about 5 degrees to high most of the time. Is there any way to re-calibrate it?

There is no way to recalibrate the temp. You can try cleaning the connections to the sensor on the radiator support. If that doesn't get it you'll need a new sensor.
If you are running a winter front the temp will read high.

I don't have/need a winter front right now. I'll try cleaning the sensor and connector and see if that helps. Thanks guys.

Can anyone tell me where the sensor is located? and what temp is given? If the sensor is near the Rad.. how is it getting a reading without the heat from the rad?
anyone have any photos what the sensor looks like?

Depends on the year. Some are mounted behind the bumper. On my 01 when you open the hood, look up. Mine is on the latch mechanism, it's the only thing up there . It is more foward than the radiator so it gets somewhat accurate readings. Unless the truck is sitting for a while and gets the radiant heat off the radiator, tranny cooler, intercooler and AC condensor.

Later ones are where JR said, earlier models are a little toward center behind the driver's side headlight.

Oops, sorry Infidel. I thought I read that they were behind the bumper. I stand corrected.

Talking

Here is a pic of what the one on my '99 looks like, and kinda shows the underside of the hood and latch.

(Please ignore the dirt)
