Hi guys , what are some good soft brake pads to use on my '98 Dodge 24-valve Cummins front end?

 

Semi-metallic wear pretty easy on these trucks.

 

I have been pleased with Auto Zone premium. They are easy on rotors and don't leave excessive dust on wheels. Don't see need for heavy metalic or high priced pads. JMHO

 

+1 on Autozone premium. I don't like "lifetime" pads, they don't stop the vehicle well enough. I prefer a bit more wear but with more function.

 

i use oem quality..over 100,000 miles on first set, 90,000 on second.... just started on 3rd

 

I just put on for the first time, ceramic (auto zone), anyone use these ?

 

Beware, most ceramics wear down your rotor instead of the pad.
I'd much rather replace pads than rotors.

 

Ceramic most agressive on rotors. Hard metalliac is bad enough.

 

Dayuuuuuuum, those s.o.b's, they told me these particular pads would be easy on the rotors, guess I'll go down and give the manager a ration of attitude, maybe even take the pads back. thanks guys

 

I've been the most happy with the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads. They seem pretty soft with regards to stopping power and rotor wear. Plus they are quiet, give hardly any dust, and last about 60 to 65K on both my truck and my Dad's 04. For about $55 they are a great deal. Advance Auto Parts is also saying they have a lifetime warranty now...

 

That's excellent for a pad that doesn't wear your rotors.
Most lifetime pads are too hard so they don't wear out and incur the manufacturer replacement costs.
