better? no not really. But here is a good piece of news. These little pieces are the same for ford trucks for many years (possibly chevy 2 im not 100% sure on that). Go to a junkyard, you should be able to find a wrecked truck there to take it off of. My Junkyard in my area let me take 3 of them for free. Dealer is always insane, sadly, but JY's can be a mans best friend.

hope this helps

Mine doesn't ever lock. I usually find the sliding window slightly open every day when i get in and while i'm driving. It drives me nuts and also lets bugs in during the night. I can shut it and apply the latch, but it doesn't take long for it to pop off the hook end of it. It is very helpful though if i lock my keys in my truck ( easy way to break in). Is this a common problem? If so, what are the fixes.

Could we put a plastic dowel in the tracks to hold the windows shut, similar to using a wood dowel to secure a sliding patio door? I haven't looked at mine yet to see if it's possible, but I do want to secure the rear slider better.

I found one in the little "Help" packets on the shelf at either AutoZone or Parts America... It was in the section with all of the door and window handles and hinge pins etc. Pretty sure it was under $5.00.

There used to be a metal replacement one. We had it on an old Chevy. Try looking at a marine supply store, they have some cool stuff that works on trucks too.

Mines broke too but have a metal headgate and that impedes my breaking in if I lock the keys up. Atleast it doesn't open itself up

Yeah I could use a fix for this one also, but I never keep anything expensive inside the truck so its kind of nice to know its there if I lock my keys inside...

i just bought my truck and i noticed that the prev. owner used a piece of black electical tape to keep the windows from splitting open. i think its tape. i havent really investigated it cuz i havent used the rear window as of yet. you could try that too i guess

I used to work for a company named Southco, inc...who I believe supplied those crappy latches that came on the fords...I'll have to check mine to see if its the same or not, but I think it is the same latch. They should sell you one or I think they resell though Mcmaster Carr. Its still a crappy latch though.

They make a really good replacement...the K2 line but I'll have to check the bolt pattern to see if its the same. It will be the last latch you buy if it fits.

Yeah, I've had a zip-tie holding mine together for over a year now. :d
