My 95 has (had) 7/100K but I know they reduced it a few years later (98?). It went to something like 5/70K.

FWIW, my drivers door was replaced and passenger door repaired under warranty by a dealer I didn't buy from. They gave me no problems on doing it. I had ~ 6.5 years and 70K on it. Check the back of your owners manual for all your warranty coverage.

As you've probably noticed, it's pretty common.

Rust??? Must be from michigan I used to live there and HATED the rust problems out there. I solved that one by moving out here It's incredible to be able to remove exhaust clamps with a wrench from a vehicle that is 15 years old!!!!

Herb,
Here's the skinny (just got it yesterday from my local dealer).

We have a 5/100. My inservice date was 12/11/01. I have until 12/10/05. Currently have just over 78k miles. Both of my doors have the signs. But the warranty says PERFORATION. There needs to be a hole through an outer body panel, not just rust. The warranty fellow said perforation. Then said with a slight grin that there was "Nothing else I can tell you..."
So last night I took a closer look and probed a little to try to determine the extent of the problem. I still have metal there. But I am thinking that by next fall there will likely be holes. Until then, I wont worry about it.

If the warranty says PERFORATION, I think it will be perforated in time for warranty work (if it were mine ). I'd think a sharp thin punch to check the thickness of the rusted parts now would provide some good knowledge of how bad the rust was. If it just happened to be thin and poked through in a few places, a couple of months later, I'd go and get my warranty work done. The risks to this are obvious but it sounds like you'd get it fixed either way so what do you have to loose . Good luck!

Just had my drivers door repaired yesterday. Warrenty is 5/100 as stated above. Reading the warrenty booklet it says the rust has to be visable when walking around the truck. Mine was under the door where the door skins were spot welded. One of the weld popped under the gasket left a hole and rusted. They repaired under warrenty.
