Rock Solid Ram bushing replacement need help

Im in the process of replacing my bushing and ran into problems. I cannot get the old bearing out of the column. I was able to get the spring and retainer out, the plastic dust shield and a small cone out but no luck with the bearing. Any ideas? I've been digging around it with a pick, screwdriver, and pliers. What else has to come out and how do I get it out? Thanks! 2001 Automatic.

It is hard to get out, just keep working at it. I can't remember how I finally got it out. But, I tried all the things you did and eventually got it. The key is to not get mad, somehow things always work better when I am calm.
