Rims & Tires???

I am in the market for AT tires and have a chance to buy (4) Wrangler AT/S, LT305/70R16 with better than 75% tread on them for $400.00.

The rims are from a 95 2500.

Is this a good deal?
Will they fit on a stock truck?

IF NOT...

Will D25 coils and Bilsteins 5100 be enough?

Considering I have H.O with 3.54, is the ony thing I have to worry about is recalibrating the speedometer? How will the truck respond (performance) to going up 3 sizes with a stock truck?

Re:Rims & Tires???

If you don't, I will..I have those very same tires on my truck. They have 67,000 on them now, and will easily go to 80,000. I am careful to keep right pressure and rotate often. (5,000 mi) I use my truck in sand, and they're a great sand tire. Work good in snow, and dirt. Ok only in mud. Very quiet. You can't go wrong with those tires. I would only check to make sure he didn't "round" one off by not rotating it. Is he selling for a more aggressive tire? If they're in good shape, go for it.

305's will probably need a leveling kit or D25 springs.
You'll get some rub on the control arms at full steering lock.

The rims on the other hand probably won't fit.
95's had drum brakes on the back, 2002 has disc brakes.
The disc calipers are the culprit
Some have made them fit by grinding the edge of the calipers

The speedo will be off, and the dealer can't recalibrate for tires that big.
You'll have to go with an aftermarket correction device, such as the Superlift Truespeed, or the ERA (can't remember who makes it)

Truck might be a bit sluggish off the line with the bigger tires.

Mine definately is with 315's, and with my auto tranny, the shift points are messed up as well.
I'm sure the computer is doing strange things with the engine due to the incorrect speed, but the Truespeed should fix that along with the speedometer/odometer.
Currently I'm using my GPS for speedo/odo readings.

phox

The 305/70R16 will fit just fine, with no leveling kit, with stock rims. The rims should be the 16x7.5" aluminum rims. I don't know how the 305's will like the 6.5" wide rim. I know a fellow who has 305's on his stock 16x7.5" rims, with no leveling kit, and he has just a little rubbing at full lock, on the lower tracking arms.
As far as the 95 rims, I know nothing about that part.

Chris
