I replaced the sending unit in the fuel tank, put 5 gal of diesel back in tank, filled filter housing with diesel 2 or 3 times to prime yet i still get alot of air being pumped. I removed both supply and reture lines from tank and checked for sucktion and air, I have both. No start.......

5 gallons may not be enough to fill the pick up, put another 5 in.

5 is enough. try disconecting the module, loosen and turn it left to right.

maybe the pickup line is hanging up on the side.

I replaced it becuase I was getting an engine lite and lose of power when trying to maintain 35 or 45, had to pump accelerator once then power was restored. got tired of pumping the gas pedal. pump was just changed out at 250,000 mi and change the fuel filter ever 12000 mi.

I don't think your problem was the sending unit. All it does is tell you the fuel level. If you replaced the entire module, then the in tank pick-up should be OK, and you likely need new fuel lines. You're getting an air leak.
