2001 Ram 2500 - Dirty Headlamps

Both my headlamps have condensation accumulated over the last year so I drilled both earlier today to get the water out. The air hose and multiple holes drained most of the water.
I thought draining the condensation would make the beam brighter but tonight I cant see any improvement. The front of the lenses are worn from sun, road debris, etc.
I am wondering if there is any means to make the lenses clearer. I am thinking rubbing compound but not sure. If anyone has tips, please share them. I am sure I am not the only one with the issue.
If there is no means to clear the lenses, please recommend a source for replacements.
Thanks for your help.

3M product called Finess-it(sp)

Go to a Napa or a boating supply store, sometimes wally world has it.
Not sure of spelling but its Finess-it or finess-itII 3m makes it, it is for polishing paint but works exellent for plastics also.

I use it to bring back the shine on sun weathered plexiglass and lexan hatch covers (will not fix or hide crazing). Can be used with a low speed buffer, but headlights probably ought to be done by hand.

Joe, Checking the following link
http://www.1001headlights.com/produc...RUCK&Year=2001
it looks like there are two bulbs in the Sports. Any other differences?

Yea 2 bulbs in each. You will have to get some relays and make a harness for them but well worth the effort. The difference is like day and night.

I used polishing compound on mine to get the yellow haze off. You just need to be careful because it can scratch the lense if you get a little too excited with it.

I've always had good luck wet sanding the lamps with 1k grit, 2k grit, and following up with a scratch compound to remove any fine swirl marks.

On 1001headlights, the sport set is only listed for models starting with 1999. Will the sport set fit onto a 1998?

If you are doing any significant night driving get the sportlights. Mine cost about $400 with the wiring harness and was worth it. The 98 might need some sheet metal cutting behind the lights. You need to cut out about a 4" X 4" piece inboard of the existing hole - not too difficult with a sawsall but be careful. The lights have a metal stud the slides into a retainer - goes in easy but a bear to pull out - maybe some one can explain better or have pictures - I think I saw some pictures on the TDR site.

Check out suvlights.com for the harness. That's where I got mine. It was real easy to install, too.
