Rear window compatibility question.
Rear window compatibility question.
I'm in the process of restoring my 97 Ram 2 door regular/standard cab and deciding if I want to reuse the original rear sliding window or put in a non-sliding single pane window. Honestly, the original really needs to be replaced,,,the rubber frame surround is starting to disintegrate. I noticed with the very few single pane windows I could find, they are advertised separately for 94-97 and 98-2001. Is there a difference between the rear window for a 2 door regular cab 94-97 and 98-2001? I can tell you there is a definite price difference...at least $50. Also, I can verify my current sliding window sat in a recessed "pocket" and was glued in with urethane windshield adhesive and has the metal tabs that bend in to clamp the window to the body on the inside the cab. Any info is helpfull. Thanks!
You got a cab change between those two models. 94-97 started 2nd Gens. Standard and Club cabs for 1500, 2500, 3500.
Then to the Quad cab for 98.5 to 2002 for 2500 and 3500's. The Unicorns are the 98.5 12 valves that snuck thru....
2002 1500's were the intro to the 3rd gen cab styles. 2500, 3500's appeared in '03...
That's all I got, may affect the rear glass that way.

I knew about most the changes that occurred for 98 onward. As for changes to the cab, I thought they were more focused on interior changes...dash, seats, etc. My current theory is Dodge dumped the rear window design for 94-97 standard cabs in favor of the club cab rear window design of the same years to be used on all cab styles for 98 onward. My 97 rear window has an integrated molding frame design that has an outer flange that laps onto the surface of the body around the whole window. I saw a 2nd gen club cab today (don't know what year) that it's rear window design lacks the molding that laps onto the body. Because it was at a red light, I didn't have the time to see if any differences exist in the body design around the window. If I ever figure out if it matters at all between my year rear window and those for 98 onward, I'll update this post.
