Rear Suspension

Do any of you guys know a way to measure maximum rear suspension squat? I just added a flatbed to my truck, and it looks really good. My problem is by using the mounting kit that came with the bed I only have about 3" of clearance between the tires and a cross member on the bed. I would like to be able to figure out much more the suspension will travel so that I can determine how much I will have to lift the be to keep from rubbing.

TIA

Joe

Man, that isnt a lot of clearance at all. If you look on the inside of the leaf spring you will see a tab sticking out where it attaches to the axle, right above it there is a rubber bumper right above it where you can take a measurment from. I know when i have my truck loaded going over some monster whoops it will leave marks on the stoppers.

Good luck

Re:Rear Suspension

At work, we run alot of 1 ton CTDs with dump boxes and salt spreaders. When we got the trucks back from the dump box dealer, they were already sitting on the overload springs. We had extra leaves put in the rear (one or two) by a local spring company, and got our ride height back. There is no problem with ride quality because of the added weight of the box. The springs would be pretty squishy if you just added a spacer between the axle and spring. Just a suggestion.
