Question about 98 year models

I am looking for a truck, and today I found a 98 year 2500 built Feb 1998 with a 24v but it did not have the quad doors.
The cab was like the 97 older extended cabs.
I thought that all 98 up had rear sucide doors??
thanks for clearing this up.

I've got a 98.5 24v with the club cab. I have been told they are pretty rare. I would much prefer the 12v with quad cab...

I think you have it backward. The '98s are very common with quad cab.

Club cab option was available until around 01, wasn't it? Just most opted for the QC. Like the 6 speed option with the duramax. Its there, just rarely taken.

I think that was the last year as well.

Didn't GM kill the handshaker/diesel a few years ago?

-1998 was the first year for the Quad Cab and it was an option. The Extended Cabs were standard on all trucks that were not standard cabs.
-12v motors were not available after Dec 23rd of 1997 as the 24v motors were the norm then.No 24v trucks were built for 1998 before the December of 1997 break.HOWEVER,There were 7 dealer display trucks built in October of 1997 with the 24v motors. They all were Sports and had the 12v door badges and were hauled around to dealers and shows all over the country promoting the new motor. They were SUPPOSED to be destroyed but as Ma Mopar has done in the past with oddities 3 slipped through the cracks and one is here in PA.
-1999 was the year the Quad Cab became standard and the Extended cab trucks were an option.
-2000 the Quad Cab was the only cab available other than the standard cab as the Extended Cab was removed from production completely. This year was also the first for the 6 spd tranny which was an option.

Hope that helps......Andy

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I didn't know the option packages for the Dodges.

For what its worth, I have a 2006 Duramax with 6 spd, regular cab for work.
