Quad door lock

I am having trouble getting one of my quad doors to close well. I looked at the lock on the bottom of the door and noticed that the spring broke that is attached to the small wedge that helps keep the door tight. I called the dealer about it and they said I had to replace the lock and it would cost $70. I was wondering if there is another way to fix the lock.

Thanks,
Dave

If you take the inner panel off the quad door there is a vent low on the door that you can remove to get at the nuts holding the lock on. Don't just try to remove the bolts from the bottom, they will twist off. When I bought my truck one latch was rusted shut. Had to lay on the ground and run a punch through the little access hole to force it open. Don't know if you'll be able to fix yours or not. Mine was beyond repair. Can't find the link but I got a brand new one for about $60. Quick Ebay search shows $45 for a used 1.
Good luck

How do you get the door panel off the quad cab rear door?

The panel only has a couple of screws under the door handle and some of those plastice things on the inside. It isn't that hard to take off.

I trashed all my little "christmas tree" plugs pulling the panel off. Only a couple bucks for a bag of new ones at most any parts store. Also snapped the little plastic retainer piece off the cable for the inside door handle. In my truck nobody rides in the back anyway so it wasn't an issue.

Any more details on this access hole? I tore my door apart from the inside and have determined the lower latch is rusted/broken/fused shut. I'm pretty sure the access hole you describe is where I shot half a can of PBlaster. So I just slide a 3/32" or so punch in there and knock something open?
Hook me up, I searched instead of creating a new post

I'm assuming your other door is functional. Open it and take a look at the latch mechanism. This will give you a better idea what you're beating on.
