Unhappy Pullin' Da dash

Anyone have a link to instructions for pulling the dash and replacing the Evap & Heater core?

AC leaked down again, might as well do it right and make the proper repairs.

I hear it's a 5-6 hour job.

Also where to purchase New Evap & Core?

I thought I saw a thread on this a few days ago in which infidel responded with some trips/tricks. However, after searching for "heater" and "evaporator" posts by infidel, I can't find it

I've had the dash down far enough to access the vacuum servo for the fresh air door on the 1996 Dodge.

You have all the screws on the top of the dash that must come out. I Think 6 screws
2 bolts at the bottom of the dash at the kick panels.
1 bolt in the center of the dash above the tranny hump.

Pull you stereo out there is one screw under the dash back by the def ducts... a really pain in the rear-end to get.

Two bolts that hold the steering column. Let it drop to the seat. (If you have a auto - unhook the string to the PRND21 pointer...)

Now get in and lift the dash up about 1 inch and pull foreward a bit to relase the mounting hooks at the bottom...

Beyond this... I have no clue... I never removed the duct work...Just replace a vacuum servo...
I hope this helps...

I did the job about three weeks ago. It really is not bad at all. I've got you covered on the instructions and have some pictures. I don't have time to do it right now, but will this evening. Stay tuned...

I have this on my to do list. What do you do if you do not have access to the equipment to drain the refrirgerent? Is there something inexpensive to purchase?

I too will be waiting to see the instructions.

I will make one comment here, the service manual says to unbolt the top of the dash, of course after the steering is out and wires disconnected. It says to form a wire with a hook at both ends to hold the das in the down position. Not a chance, it is far too heavy. I moved the seats forward and put pillows on them and let the dash rest on them. Worked well.
