PS/Hydroboost HELP!
PS/Hydroboost HELP!
2001 2500 5spd
I lost powersterring and power brakes a few days ago and since the PS pump was leaking I decided to start with that, i also rebuilt the vac pump wile I was at it.
Im pretty sure I bleed out all the air.
Now I can drive the truck for about 10min and then my brakes get rock hard and I can bearly get the truck home, I still have powersterring but not full range...maybe 1/2 turn side to side.
Any way to make sure it's my hydro and not just air...or maybe the master???
Realy don't want to spend $600 and not fix it.
Thanks for any help

You did fill the power steering reservoir with the gold power steering fluid and not use the red type or ATF, Right?
You could have a defective pump, you need a power steering pump pressure tester. Most shops have them and only takes a few minutes to hook one up.
All With Hydraulic Booster following pressure reading
PSI reading of 1450 to 1550
GPM of 3.1 to 3.5

I just used regular gold colur PS fluid
I did just read another thread about a guy having similar issues and it turned out it was a bad pump, so I'll get me pressure checked...thats a good idea.
