I need to replace my evaporator and while I'm at at the heater core and the dash as well. I notice black foam chunks coming out of the dash vents and some laying on the passenger side floor board. Is this a seal of some kind for the blend door or some other part in the AC system. I would like to get all of the parts needed before I start the excursion.

The black foam is prob the small foam cushion located around the center vents. I didn't replace mine.

 

Thanks High Bid! When you say center vents, are you referring to the ones above the radio, or on the floor board? It seems odd it would be coming out off all of the vents and the vents on the floorboard as well.

Is there a seal on the blend door? Does the blend door control the outside air / recirculated air as well, or is that another door?

I believe the foam is just from around the center vents above the radio. I didn't remove the blend door or any of the a/c components. You could always take things apart and then use some pipe insulation foam cut to fit.
