Power Steering Pump Help Please - Is Borgeson OK?

I'm looking for a better PS pump for my truck. I just blew the second Atsco reman pump on my truck yesterday in a parking lot while backing up with wheel turned hard right and applying brakes at the same time. The PS pump shaft breaks right off. I spoke with Pete Gould from www.fixinrams.com and asked how I could keep this from happening again and he said, "Don't back up". Of course he was joking but essentially what he meant was that this happens a lot with our Ram trucks because of the inadequate vacuum pump/PS pump system. So my question to those of you familiar with this syndrome, will a Borgeson pump be a good choice? My time is very limited since I have to get this fixed before I have to go into hospital in a week or so. All replies and suggestions are very much appreciated!!!

the power steering is about the only thing that works well on my ram, knock on wood. I am also courious at how this helps? I dug around that page and seen a new power steering box that is faster- meaning less turns from stop to stop! Pretty sweet stuff!

Reman pumps are notoriuos for being garbage around these threads.

The original one's are pretty good and many will rebuild them themselves.

Borgenson stuff has a good reputation, hopefully this will fix it.

I haven't had any trouble with my stock box....

Thanks for your input and interest joem and SIXSLUG. I am having problems with the pump, not the steering box. Here is a photo of my second broken pump shaft, removed just today. I hear ya on the reman junk SIXSLUG. I'm sure getting tired of changing these things out so that is why I want a better pump than a re-manufactured one. The original OEM pump is long gone so rebuilding that is not an option. Anywho, thanks for your support and have a great Thanksgiving!

I gotcha, my mistake.

There must be an appropriate aftermarket part to upgrade that shaft...

Happy Thanksgiving to you, also!
