Overhead Console wiring
Are there just wires or is there a connector? I believe there are 7 wires in the connector from the display. The wiring diagram says two come from the ecm (I think) and the rest from ground, temp sensor, Power ect. I would hope if Dodge would go to the trouble to run wire they would run them all. Any one know for sure?
All wires/wiring I have found on my truck so far have had the connectors on them, ie power mirror controller and heat feature for heated mirrors( My truck came with manual flip out tow mirrors). And also the cab clearance lighting which my truck didn't come with has the wiring in place up the a-pillar at least I am assuming this is what it is.
I also have located the "SPORT" headlight wiring with connectors but no guts in the power center under the hood.
Some think only the upper version trucks got the harness for everything beginning at SLT trim levels.
I hate to say it but it may be easier to get an aftermarket gps.

Well, I cant find the factory harness. The FSM says there are two wires that go to the CCD bus. What would that be for? Mileage? Does anyone have the part number to the harness that runs down the A Pillar? I would see if I could buy it if possible, I could make one at last resort.
I found a donor truck, it is a 97 1500 Laramie and it has the overhead console in it with temp/compass. It is of a different design, smaller than what is in my 02 2500 but will the harness be the same? Does anyone know that? I assume it would be as far as the temp/compass is concerned of which is all I want anyways. Anyone know for certain?
My dad's overhead in his 94 is different than mine, probably since the changeover at 98.5.
Wouldn't be surprised if the engineers "improved" something when they changed it.

One thing I know is pre-98.5's don't have the mileage function. Screen is blank on that setting. I think the newer computers are different and the old style harness is possibly missing the pins in the plug for mileage.
