One more silly question

Since I am asking questions, is anyone aware of how they assigned VIN sequence numbers back in 1997? While I was looking over my buddies new to him 97, I noticed it was also a Mexican truck built 5/97, and since both Brownie and Greenie were built 5/97 at the Mexican plant, I was naturally curious where it was built relative to them ( their numbers were 216 trucks apart, at least numerically ). Imagine my surprise when the last 6 digits was almost 300,000 numbers higher than either of mine.

Now I know there is no way that 300,000 trucks were built at Mexico in a month ( 10,000 a day ), so does anyone know how the sequencing went for the VIN?
