This is a common problem with all Chrysler vehicles that use the same style multifunction switch (turn, brights, etc). It usually occurs on vehicles where the brights aren't used much. My feeling is dirt collects on the contacts causing a bad connection. Just flipping back and forth several times will often correct the problem for a long time. Mine has been doing this for several years, maybe once a year. Never replaced the multifunction switch because I know a new one will eventually do the same thing. Just get into the habit of flipping back and forth between low and high every once and awhile, the lights don't even need to be turned on.

Even though this problem is easy to correct I feel it is potentially life threatening and would encourage anyone who has had this happen to file a complaint here http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ to force a recall. Only takes a minute, you will need your VIN number.

Just went throught this........Take the covers off the steering console, on the left side of the column on the back side of the wheel there is a violet/white wire that is probably pulled out or loose in the plug. There is a cover that you have to unscrew (5/16" I believe) to get to the plug. I unplugged mine and soldered the wire back into the female connector. I suspect it is from the up/down motion from the tilt wheel.
