No Headlights!

Well not exactly true... I have the daytime running lights, but when I pull the switch for all the lights to come on only the parking lights and dash lights come on, and I can't click on the high beams. For some time now I have had an issue with the light behind the pyro guage flickering and the transmision temp guage has been acting funny, could this all be related?? Or is this as stupid as new bulbs?

My first instinct tells me that your switch is shot. I can't remember for sure but I think that is what happened when the one in my 96 went.

Will the indicator on the dash show the high beams? Could be numerous things......headlight switch, dimmer switch ( multifunction switch ), bulbs, wiring........need to get a test light out and do some checking.

The high beam indicator light comes on when you hold the switch, but won't stay on. Is there any way to test the switch, or do I have to buy a new one?

Similar problem for me. I discovered today that if I flick the high beams lightly, that I can get the headlights to come on. Hmmm... hopefully come cleaner will fix the problem, otherwise I guess I'll have to buy a new one.

When will Detroit finally learn that if they would build a quality product, that in the long run they would sell more. building things cheap so that they can sell more parts only leads to a frustrated buyer who finally give up & buy another (read foreign) make.

I had this happen a few years back. From tilting the steering wheel up and down the wire pulled out of the mutifunction switch. The mutifunction switch is located behind the wheel on the colunm. Remove the plastic cover and detach the switch. I believe the wire was at the top and maybe red on my 2001. Good Luck.
