No Brakes and hard steering
No Brakes and hard steering
Was losing power steering fluid between the master cylinder and hydro boost,
also very hard to steer. and braking go hard and soft as if the ABS had to work all the time. Put on a new master cylinder, weeks later had my hydro boost rebuilt. I still have brake problems and very hard steering. theres fluid pressure in the power steering unit when i opened, one of the lines. Do the brakes need bleeding after changing the hydro boost? (at the wheels), i was told it wouldn't need it. It was bleed at the hydro's lines, per the instructions.
The truck in a 1997 2WD dually, cruz, air ext.... auto with DTT converter and Trans, big exh. custom plate, all the needed gauges, 204,000 miles.
When the truck set over night the first mile or so the steering seem to be normal, but the brakes are still bad. Are ther any test or things to do that would help narrow it down to find the problem, the truck is not fun to drive in isn't the present condition.
thanks for your help in advance.

If you really do have pressure from the PS pump, which I am highly suspicious of, you have a stuck valve someplace. Since this is affecting both your brakes and steering, the common factor is the pump and I'd be looking very hard at that. Another possibility, which could happen fi the wrong fluid type has been in there, is the high pressure line collapsing. This occurs sometimes in brake hoses, which is th eonly reason I am suggesting it. I don't know what the likelyhood is though.

I don't thinnk the vacuum pump has anything to do with it. You said you have a hydroboost, which does not use vacuum to assist with the brakes, and the PS does not use vacuum either.
