New to me 1998 truck update

Well picked her up from the Port, got all the papers stamped, then off to the nearest truck stop to play. First check is it a 53 block - and yes sods law it is -never mind if she cracks shall just have to ship in a new block or recon unit. Now the fun stuff - whoa what a tool far better stock than I ever imagined. She just plays with overtaking semi's etc, just drops down a gear and pulls like a train. Hard to imagine what she will be like with a #10 plate in her. Thanks so much to every one for the info and knowledge gained so far from this fantastic site.
Total costs so far are as follows. Read & weep,

98 12v QC Truck $11,500
3 pillar gauges Fitted $ 350
Nerf bars fitted $ 350
US shipping Iowa to Baltimore $ 1,380
Shipping $ 1,800
Terminal handling charge $ 80
Customs clearance $ 100
Release fee $ 70
Survey $ 50
Marine insurance $ 180
Customs Duty 22% $ 3,162
Vat (sales Tax) 17.5% $ 3,082

Total $ 22,104

So there you have it guys - too dang spensive to live in England for much longer. Reckon I got to get me a Green Card somehow- maybe have to buy a business.
Oh yea then theres our diesel at $2.08 a Litre yea you read right a Litre not Gallon. Then insurance at $1,500 a year, then Road tax at $400 year then Goverment says big nasty pollutin Rams got to pay $4,000 year Road Tax cause they hate big carbon footprints
Time to leave - but gonna smoke some Brits before I do
Oh yea and then theres the daft gun laws - but thats another rant
Will post some more pics soon
Sorry for the long post - see ya'll

Congrats on the new truck. I dont think the 53 block is a concern on the 12V trucks, for some reason only the 24V trucks seem to have the cracking problem.

It must be worth it to you, plus the looks you will get running that rig down the road ( on the wrong side I presume). Enjoy it sure is a nice looking truck.

People here in the UK ask why i drive such a big truck??

All i say is "Because i Can and it's FUN to"...Life is too short, and your only here once, but mostly, people love the truck, which is a good thing, and yes it's interesting driving, in some of our older towns, and villages...................

Hi,
Nice to hear from someone else here in England with a Cummins Ram, Do you ever get to Americana up at Newark or Billing Aquadrome? If so maybe will get to meet up sometime.

Well thanks indeed Patdaly,
yourself and all the other guys do seem very welcoming. I got family ties here at present as inlaws are in 80's but as and when that all changes, I daresay we shall be looking your way. UK is a lovely country, but to crowded now and just to many crazy rules.
Thanks for all the nice comments.
