NAPA Track Bar WRONG TAPER.

I am on my second Napa Track bar in 10 K miles, I did noticed that the one I just put on tightened up alot so much the hole for the cotter pen was higher than the nut. The second day I had it on I pulled in to a gas station and heard a pop, It was the track bar at the frame joint. It tightened up soo far that the bar is hitting the frame at the frame joint pinching the rubber grease seal. It did it during suspension flex and over extended the track bar joint at the frame. I have heard that there is Two different taperes, I need some hard evidence so I can get my money back and do a real track bar set up.
This one is a 3/4 taper from the web site.
Any one have some info on this.
Thanks
Mike

What is the part number of your track bar. I just installed one today, Master Ride DS 1413. I hope I got the right one.

I recently just replaced my napa trac bar, since its life time gaurentee, I figured I would just continue to replace it until I can get around to getting a DS trac bar.
But I too noticed that the second one I put in seemed to tighten up too high, it did the same thing, tightened way up into the boot alittle bit, so I just tightened up enough where the cotter key would still hold. Good enough for winter plowing,
Tim.

The only other taper that I am aware of is 5/8" off of an early 94 model. The trac bar number you listed is the correct part number for a Moog so that should be good. I dont like hearing of ya'lls problems as I need to change mine after the first of the year. Let us know if ya get the part worked out.

My roommates 01 requires a pitman arm from a 94-99. Just something to keep in mind. Just cause your truck is whatever year it is doesn't mean a part for that year will work.

I noticed mine was the same way, with the cotter pin not sitting in the recess of the castle nut. I just added a thick washer...
