My buddies truck has fuel on the underside

A friend bought a 2gen 12 v and he didnt check it out real well. I was lookin under it and there is a film of fuel/dirt under the back of the cab, in between the bed and cab, and on top of the fuel tank with a drop coming off the fuel tank. Anyone have anything similiar to this before? Where ever it is leaking it is getting carried around all over the underside while moving.

The return line leaking at the tank fitting? Not sure if the 12V has a return line.

Yup, they've got one. The lines running into the top of the tank fitting are plastic. I replaced mine with rubber all the way up to the front. After that I found a leak in the tank where a big rock had lodged in the hanger strap and rubbed a hole. Little epoxy and good as new. I can tell you that even a leak on the outside of the tank away from anything will get spread all over the underside of the truck and on your tailgate too. Good Luck!
