Any good reason to keep the resinator when taking out the Mufler. From what I was looking at under the truck if I get a piece of 3" exhaust pipe about 63" I can take out both and just have the straight pipe to the tail pipe. Am I missing something?

Shouldn't be any reason to keep it. I previously had 3" straight pipe from turbo all the way back, no muff, nothing. Yea, noisy and "raspy" when going down the hwy. Since you're going to that much trouble to remove and install a "test pipe" you may want to consider just upgrading to 4" or 5" exhaust as to change it all out won't be that much more effort and you'll lower your egt, improve performance and mpg. There are some pretty good 4/5" systems on ebay for under $400.

I don't see any reason to keep the resinator...Doesn't seem to keep any noise level down..I ran one and it sounded the same as a straight pipe..

Do a search on ebay for dodge straight pipe. They have them on there for 210.00. Thats what I bought 5 years ago and still has no problems.

You all make a good point on upgrading at the same time. I guess I will wait till I have the $$. I have been laid off for 7 months now. No reason to spend $$ twice!

Yea that definately adds a new factor into your situation. Keep the cash as you may need it soon and use the time to research your upgrade... when you have $$ avail you'll know exactly what/where to buy.
