Mpg

I've calculated my mpg on my 01 auto. I'm getting less than 18.. around 17.x is that normal or should I be getting a bit better. Of course it was hot a few days and I've driven about 50 miles with A/C on. I'd like to bring it up to 20mpg in city or more.

I average 16-17 around town with mine. 17.5 doesn't sound bad to me. A programer or box might help a little. Driving habits affect mpg more than anything. Here in Louisianna, I run my a/c 9 months out of the year. I don't believe a/c. makes that big of a difference. Also, my mpg always drops some in the summer months when its 90-100 degrees outside.

What is your gear ratio? Do you have stock tires? What size? Your mileage sounds about right for a somewhat stock truck driven normally....

Im not sure what gear ratio Ive got. Can I tell by looking at the pumpkin? It is stock truck and I barely push it and most of the driving is done in O/D (as long as I'm going on flat road). I was thinking about bolt ons, intake/exhaust for now.

my highest was 18.3 but usually runs around 17.4 with the ac off around town. It falls off a bit with the ac on. thats by the computer but i've found it to be pretty close. It all depends where your foot is. It can be as low as 15.4 with the ac on.

I've been thinking about designing my own propane system too. How did you do it.

in your glove box will have a data plate. also you have numbers on a metal tag on one on the pumpkin cover bolts that data. or give your vin to the dealership parts dept and they can give you a print out on everything your truck came with when built.
