Minor water leak - head gasket

Ok guru's I have a minor water leak at the head gasket, front, passenger side. No big deal now, a pint in 35,000 miles. Just happened to see it while looking for something else.

I have heard of these leaks before and if I am not mistaken the head gasket has been redesigned to prevent this. Do you think it will hold for a while, I am not in the mood to pull the head again....

Boy, Murphy just don't want to let you go does he? I don't know if it will work, but what about if you try re-torqueing the head? Might be enough to keep you from pulling it. There is always pepper!!!!

Nooooo! Not again!

I can't believe this is happening to you AGAIN, Bill.

I think if (when?) you do end up pulling the head you ought to o-ring it and clamp that sucker down with studs.

nah its not a compression problem and Cummins had problems with that issue. The new gaskets are built to correct this problem. I don't have any plans of pulling the head any time soon unless it starts leaking significently. It is just seeping, about a pint in 30,000 miles. The engine was built in 1997 so it has been in there a while.

It will get a cab lift before it gets pulled again.
