just remember that if you are over and get into an accident your insurance CAN revoke your claim...

I think that is close to the safe limit, personally. With truck brakes up to snuff and trailer brakes the same then you should get by o.k., and pulling the weight shouldn't be much of an issue. Some pull more then that often with a similar truck, some say even less than what you describe is too much. If you can "test drive" it that'll tell you more then anything. Good luck!

It'll tow what it'll tow til it won't.
With good tires, good brakes and a good driver you should be fine.
I've had 10K in a dump trailer with my truck weighing in at 8800 and it can do it. I wouldn't want to take that load cross country though....

Does your '99 have rear disk brakes? They were dropping the drums and going disk in this time frame. your truck is twice what my automatic is and this was 14,800 lbs on just the trailer axles- iv also hauled a metal track Hitachi EX90 without any trouble. Good trailer brakes that can stop the truck with the squeese of the hand are a must. Ths much weight felt like I was takeing off in 3rd gear until the AFC moves out of the way:
