I'm looking for a service manual I'd prefur one from cummins or dodge. I have heard of a manual on cd is that right if so where can I get one

turbodieselregister.com and books4cars.com. Both have factory manuals for about $85. forget the CDs, too hard to use in the garage!! I have both.

 

I just bought the paper manual from Geno's Garage. They also have CDs starting with 1995.

I bought paper because I want the WHOLE book in the garage with me when I work on my truck. If I had a PC outside with a grease covered keyboard anyway I may have gone CD. Since the CD is basically a series of PDFs; I can scan the pages into PDFs myself to load on my desktop and/or pocketPC as I see fit.

I'm doing it backwards to you guys... I look up the work I'm going to be doing and print out just the pages to do the work. That way when I get the pages dirty and greasy I just toss them in the trash instead of the entire $85.00 - $119.00 book. I also can write notes on the pages as I make mods to my truck and put them away for later use.

This wat I'm only out a few cents for the paper and ink to print the few pages.

Geez I hate when you get a expensive service manual all greasy!

Work smarter not harder!

 

All well and good until the fine print on a page refers you to a page you didn't print. (Stop work, wash hand, take off grease shoes (if married), go print page, ...) I'm not saying the book is the ONLY way to go; Lord knows I'm a tech freak, but there's time I need info NOW and either can't or don't want to sit at the computer. And I'm afraid the PocketPC screen may be too small to really be usable.

Ok, I up to 4 cents now.

 

im all for the 'tech' way i print off what i need and go with it. when i hae afull serice manual i end up destroying it with greasy finger, dropped in condnsation from ac, oil, whatever. this way i print and trash if i need to. just my .000000002cents

 

Just so you guys know the links above are downloadable files! So for those that don't have any manuals can at least download the PDF files and get information...

 

I had the paper copy from Geno's and the pdf from the 'net for my '01, that was great...now I'm looking for a pdf of the 2nd gen-12V engines...anyone?

 

Like someone posted in another forum all you need for them is a Big Hammer...

No really I've been looking for that manual too but no luck so far... Sorry...
