Look up Vulcan relocation kit. This isn't a hard job but can be time consuming. The lift kit is about $110 and will save a lot of hassle. It includes all the parts you will need.
Basically you remove the existing pump and mount it about 2 ft. in front of the fuel tank. You need to fabricate a mounting bkt - a 3" X 8" piece of 3/8 steel bent into an L and drill some holes. The hard part is finding the fittings to replace the banjo bolts. They are metric to AN and are hard to find. You need to cut the steel fuel line near the fuel tank. Slip a 3/8 ID hose over this line and connect to the fuel pump. Connect another hose from the fuel pump to the fuel filter. Another hose goes from the filter to the injector pump. There are two banjo bolts on the lift pump, two on the fuel filter and one one the injector pump. These all need to be replaced in order to have a free flowing system. Do not remove the existing lift pump mounting bracket from the engine as it covers a hole on the block.

If you buy the kit from vulcan it comes complete with bracket and fittings.

Get some jugs and drain enough fuel out so you don't get a diesel bath. After raising the front of the truck and supporting with extra heavy duty jackstands, I took the suction line loose from the original lift pump and pulled it down to the level of the fuel line at the frame rail where I was going to make the cut then after I was sure no fuel woul come out, I made the cut.
I had to disconnect the front driveshaft at the front differential and hold it up with a bungee cord to get it out of the way.
I located the mount holes on the frame rail, drilled then tapped with 5/16 fine thread. I used RED locktite then pulled the bolts snug, careful not to pull the threads on the thin frame rail.
