LP Dead again?

I`ve been a shadow on here for awhile, just reading and learning. I bought my 01 with 76,000 on it in OCT. It had the "dead pedal" so I made them throw in an extended warranty. VP44 was replaced and a converstion was done to the LP....relocated to the frame under drivers side. It was a Carter, which I am seeing is better than stock, but not the true answer for reliablity. but here`s my situation-

I changed the fuel filter yesterday cuz the day before it was 15- outside and it stumbled while I first drove it, and I thought I had a wax up in the filter. It also thru the p0216 code....I reset the computer, and drove it the rest of the day....normal. So I changed the fuel filter, and it wouldn`t start. I`m no dummy, so I figure I had got air in the line. I opened the line from the filter to the VP, no fuel. I then took the filter out to see if when I bumped the LP it would fill up. The LP sounded sick and no fuel??????

So my Question is.....Do you think my VP44 is gonna need replacement, and should I argue with the warranty company to put a better LP in such as a FASS, or Airdog?

I need the truck for work, and I work 500 miles from home and don`t feel like I need to always be wondering when it will brake.

When my buddy replaced my VP for the second time (first replacement was defective) he also put on a FASS LP located on the frame and a new Vulcan drawstraw not to mention he added gauges so I could keep an eye on the pressure. I have had no problems since. Is your VP still under warranty? If you still have a warranty with the truck I would take it back to them to find out why the fuel isn't making it to the filter. Does the Carter LP have a filter on it? I have to change the regular fuel filter and the one on the LP. I wish I could help more! You might also want to call Carter and see if they have a support line to help. Take care!!

p0216 is usually considered the death code for the VP...use the search function and you will find it. A FP gauge will help alot in assessing your pressures. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I just changed my LP yesterday at 184,300. Previous one was at 95,000. Had a dead pedal for about 5 seconds before the engine picked up again. Drove it home and parked it. Prior to this I could always hear the LP when I turned the key on for about a second. After the dead pedal, no noise from the LP.

Checked to see if it threw a number. No codes. Installed a new LP. Loosened the banjo at the VP44 to bleed the air out. Started up and got a 1693. Figured it was for the dry line. I looked at the code list did not tell me much.

I waiting to see if the code just drops after a few starts. Will check it again tonight.

Dave

LP was out, rest the computer...no more codes, my fuel pressure is @ 7psi idle, 4psi wot.....this is brand new out of the box carter LP. I have the relocation kit with the big line upgrade. Shop I have work done says the vp44 wasn`t damaged, but yes both are unter warranty. I`m taking the truck in tomorrow, there gonna test the pump. They said if it test bad they will refund my $$$ and upgrade me to a fass/airdog setup

I switched from the factory LP to an airdog. They are awesome! So quite. No problems. Great filtration. I'd buy another one in a minute. Stuart
