Looking at a new truck, advice needed

I am looking at a 94 2500 2wd, reg cab, long box, 180,000 miles. It has a new radiator, new clutch, and is pretty clean. It is a Laramie SLT, what options does that include? It had a fith wheel hitch, should that worry me?? he said he used it to pull a 28' 5ver, nothing too big. the asking price is 5500. What should i be sure to check when i go look at it?

Mine is a Laramie SLT and has cloth int. pwr door locks and windows, tilt and cruise also a sliding rear window. I would not worry much about the 5ver hitch, especially if you see the rig he pulled there on the site..Maybe someone with more experience can chime in and tell you what to look at for future problems.

ok, i drove it and inspected it today, a couple of things worried me, the wife was the only one home, she said that they had a diesel shop turn up the pump for more power, BUT there is no pyro... also, one of the vaccume lines is capped off, if someone show me a closeup pic of the vaccume line on the top of the valve cover, then i could show you which one it was. i believe it was the rearmost one. anyone know what this line does?? also, the tires were low on tread. Otherwise, ran like a raped ape, shifted perfect, and sounded great, started up within 2 or 3 seconds of cranking

It's probably the wastegate line, whoever turned up the pump probably disconnected the wastegate too.

I think it's probably OK, it's running strong and not making death noises so I doubt it's been hurt. Mine was used to pull a GN and had no gauges and some pump tweaks when I got it, it's been great.

They start quicker if you push the accelerator a little when cranking.

cool, thats kinda what i thought. the diff is clean, no leaks. So the stock turbo with no wastegate isnt a danger to anyhting? what kind of boost will it run with the stock setup? also, what is the stock gov spring?
Thank you everyone in advance.

It depends on how much the pump has been cranked up. They are pretty safe up to 35 psi or so, the stock wastegate shuts 'em down around 22 psi. If you're concerned, pull the intake duct off the front of the turbo and check the shaft for play. If it's not sloppy ans spins free and smooth you've got a winner. Stock gov. springs defuel at 2500 RPM, the trucks will rev in neutral to 2800 or so, but there's no power up there.
