Looking at adding airbags
I have been thinking about adding airbags or something to help keep my truck level when hauling. Looked at several different brands and they all mount to the side of the frame. I have a B&W turnover ball gooseneck hitch and I don't see any way to put these on without drilling through the hitch frame something. What have other done or found any type bags that go where the bumpstops are?
Also found these and wonder what they would do? Air Lift AirCell, they go where the bumpstops are now. If they work well then that would be my way to go with out any modifications having to be done.
Thanks for any and all help,

Our Load Lifter 5000 rear kit, for the Dodge Rams, require 8" between the tire and frame. It will not fit applications with a side-mount fifth wheel hitch. I assume this refers to your style of hitch.
As far as the Air Cell kit, yes, it's pretty much just like a Timbren. I can look up to see which kit you'd need, I just need to know which truck it's for, if it's a 1500/2500/3500, and if it's 2WD/4WD.

Wonder how well the air cell would work on my 2500 4wd?
Thanks again.

Well, if your '02 Ram is an HD, we make the Air Cell rear kit for that application. If it's not, it looks like we just make a front Air Cell kit for the non-HD. Some people like them a lot since they are simple to install and they are basically set it and forget it.

I'm not sure what all the differences are, but I see from your original post that you have a CTD. I checked around and seen the HD trucks have a 5.9 V8.
But I assume the main difference between the 2 models is the HD has a higher towing capability.

I think they added the "HD" after the "2500" and "3500" with the 03 models. Just a gimmick really, keeping up with the Jones's, since GM already had "HD" and Frod had "superduty".

HD used to mean a tow package or plow package installed by the factory, usually just an extra leaf in the rear and stiffer springs up front, now it is just a sticker on the rear fender...
My Chevy 1500 HD had 8 lug axles and stiffer rear leaf springs, but only handled about 450 more lbs than a stock 1500. Not the 3/4 ton rear axle...
Randy, is your rear airbag system for loads or vehicle height?
How do they compare to Firestone or Riderite bags?

I like the idea of airbags over the air cells, but no one makes an airbag system that goes on the axle to bumpstop location.
Anyone using something like the Air cells? thoughts on them

Well, we sell both. But the vehicle height section of Air Lift is considered the performance division. That's actually how I got into the air ride world 15+ years ago. What I normally deal with is the load support division, like helper springs. They are comparable to the other brands, but I think our products are the best, as well as our customer/tech support teams... but I might be slightly biased.

Nice. I have an old racing book on Pontiacs and the AIRLIFT sticker is pretty dominant on their early 60's stock cars...
I will look into them before I finalize my decision. Thanks!
