Just bought a 2nd gen, could use some info..
Hi everyone, I'm moving over from the first gen side and just bought a 2002 3500 dually w/50,000 on her. Info in my sig. What can everyone tell me about them? Good points, bad points, best upgrades, things that need to be done right away, things to look out for, ya'll know the drill
thanks
thanks
I didn't see a fuel pressure guage in you sig. That and a lift pump update is a must. If you can afford it a FASS pump system would be nice. VP44's have a lot of failures. Start you savings account for a new VP44 for when yours dies. It is not a question of if, but when. Other than that they are pretty nice trucks.
You better change your handle/name.....otherwise around here with this bunch, they'll think you're 89 years old!!
I just moved here to as I needed a change of scenery from my 93 CTD that I bought new. I went from the last edition of the first generation to the last edition of the second gen with this one. Man, have you seen all of the goodies they make for your truck?? When I asked what the first thing I should do as a new 02 owner on a previous post, most answered by buying this trick part or that one. But one guy spoke VOLUMES of wisdom on his suggestion that said something to the effect,TEAR UP THE CREDIT CARDS AND LEAVE THE CHECKBOOK AT HOME!!!
Wise words. And welcome to the Dodge Cummins MIDDLE WORLD!!

Thanks guys, I did love my '89 1st gen. It is amazing the power those can put out with just a few mods
Like I said though, having 2 kids plus the wife, PLUS a longer drive to work now justified the newer purchase. I will admit though, the 2002 pretty incredible truck. I think the first thing I am going to do is get an after market lift pump, then maybe one of those edge/attitude type deals with the downloader/gauge combos. Kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. Then comes the stacks, then the tranny upgrades, then the divorce...
