I could use some 6.0 info...

Afternoon, DTR.

My next door neighbor (fellow Jarhead and buddy of mine) bought a 03 sixleaker the other day... Man, I was mad! Got the freaking diesel dude next door, and he buys a 6.0.

Anyhow, he's looking to me to fix him up. From what I know, the EGR needs to go, and they had some problems with head gaskets blowing because the studs sucked. Anything else?

I don't think he's trying to build a monster, just a little more power and keep it reliable.

What is a good tuner? Anyone know any good ford forums?

TIA!!!

mad

I hear the oil pans/ block girdles in some years had issues with oil leaks... not sure of which years. Turbo/wastegate was another issue.
Throw a BD turbo on it, lose the EGR, maybe upgrade the intercooler to control the IMAT, then the headgaskets might stay in one piece.
Dont get overly aggressive no matter which programmer you load up...

He's a friend. He's a fellow Jar head. He lives next door to you and HAS to know what kind of devotee to Cummins you are. And yet he STILL buys a Fawd?

I think he's subliminally trying to tell you something!

Not everyone likes the same thing. After all the problems i have had with the last 3 cr trucks i am leaning to buy a duramax because i am tired of having to dump a lot of money into a cr

I think the 03 6. oh no is just about the worst year they made. I would tell him to do himself a favor and try to unload it as quickly as possible. He would be better off with a 7.3 if he must have Ford or even a Chevy is far superior to that thing.

Look at the bight side mad, He can now buy all of the beer for the help that he is going to need with that Power-Joke.. I know of a hot-shotter who had a 6.0 F450, it was in the shop about 25 times in the first year alone..

Yeah, I know all about it. I'm gonna give him a good 'I told you so' look every time something happens.

We're planning an EGR delete right now.

I went and looked under the hood, first thing I noticed was that the oil cap was missing. Oil smelled cheap and thin.

just do him a favor now and drag it to the scrap yard with your truck. Just read back issues of diesel power for all the power stroke performance anyone could ever want to know about. I swear they are in bed together

Nope. You might as well forget the fact that he's gonna get rid of it. He paid 22K for this thing, no way he's gonna get rid of it.

I was hoping for some helpful information. I already know he should have it crushed and use it for an artificial reef...

ya and from the pics they show in the mag they just look like a blast to turn wrenches on. lots of room under the hood. Although after working on little cars all day im use to having no working space. I like my cummins its got a nice flat valve cover to set my beer on almost like a coffee table.
