intermittent brake pull

When braking at times have hard pull to left both front caliphers have been replace, both sides brake hoses, brake pads, and rear brakes cleaned and adjusted. When this happens the truck will almost jump in left lane it pulls so hard . Anyone have any hints this has been happening for many miles ???

Check your ball-joints or king-pins ( whichever you have) for excessive play. Also check tie-rod ends, center-link , pitman arm and everything else that I can't remember in the front suspension. If everything else is fine try a front end alignment. Could be something else, but you have gone through everything on the brakes, so it is probably a steering problem.

Re:intermittent brake pull

Have had this since truck was new but pulled right until brake parts were replaced first time. After this was replaced it started pulling left replaced all parts again under Mopar warranty. All ball joints tight and F/E parts that we can tell have had truck to 3 independent shops plus Dealer, has had 2 recent F/E alignments with no help. Steering box replaced also with no help. Has DT trackbar on it steers alot better since that was replaced.

Re:intermittent brake pull

I have had the same problem with our 97 2500 4x4 diesel. I just got finished spending $2,000 and the problem has not been solved. There is a technical service bulletin for this problem and I have paid to have most all of it done. In my case we are now thinking that there may be something sticking in the hydrolic control unit which is a part of the ABS. If the mechanic really brakes hard then the brakes work correctly. After a while they go back to pulling left. We have had the calipers replaced. Stay in touch and maybe we can figure this out together. The mechanic is competent but at this point out of ideas.

DHeadington,
If you ever get to the Richmond, Va. area, I'd like to look at it. I don't know that I have any ideas that nobody else has already had, but I have heard about this over and over but never had this problem on my 99. When I did have a pulling problem it was the calipers.
I'm 15 miles West of Richmond.

Chris

Re:intermittent brake pull

I have a "99" QC 2500 and had in to the dealer6 times for "brake pull" and it always came back. I was also upset about not having enough brake. Thsy disconnected the rear height "something or other" so that the back brake would work even if the truck wasn't loaded. It made a lot of difference in stopping power. I still have brake pull, something I will have to live with until I get rid of the truck. I only have 45k on it but it may go down the road sooner pretty soon. >

Re:intermittent brake pull

One thing to check for sure, is the back adjusters. Maladjusted rears will create the pull. It is intermittent because from time to time the adjusters work, and things are fine.
Hope this helps.
