Interior ?'s

ok i have a 98 2500 with what i was told was the new style interior. i have a few questions concerning specific part info.
1. can a pull style headlight switch be replaced with a turn style switch? also can anyone tell me which one was standard for what years.
2. where can i get a replacement bulb for the ash tray? its a small led style i believe
3. genos garage sells an add on cup holder that attatches to the center seat console. why are there two styles? one for 94-97 and one for 98-02? i thought they were all the same? is there any difference between the middle seat compartments that you can notice?

not sure where to get the light other than the dealership. if you take the light out a parts store might be able to help you, NAPA would probably be the best bet for that one.
the inside of the center counsel has a different layout from the 94-97 and 98-02 years. so an earlier one probably wont work.
Haha thats my guess any ways my buddy has an 01 with the turn style too. So somewhere in there they must have switched....my best guess would be 98.5 when they went to 24v? or 99 maybe? hmmmm now im thinking....
i have what i was told was a 98.5 truck with the 99-02 interior but i still got the 12v
so now that the turn style **** will fit int he dash, does it plug in the same???
also i know im kinda jacking my own thread but im not too hip on the dodge knowledge.......what major items gave away an slt truck? do certain ones have other things that other slts dont? fog lights....overhead console...leather....etc....i seam to have everything but fog lights.....is there and rpo code for an slt?

Im not positive, but I think I read on here that the 2nd gen 12 valve trucks with auto trannys did not come with fog lights because the tranny cooler interfered. I could be wrong on that.
My 98 has SLT Laramie badges. 12 valve, Club Cab, PW, PL, pull style headlight switch, fog lights, manual trans, cloth seats(no power), rear sliding glass, tilt steer, pocket style overhead console(no temp readout), cruise, infinity stereo...thats all I can think of now. To me it seems closer to an SLT than a Laramie, cause it has no leather, but I dont like leather anyway.
The only reason I can think that your truck would not have come w/ fog lights is that they were not purchased by the original owner when it was ordered.

94-98 12v would have the same pull out headlight switch.
A 98.5 - 2001 3/4 or a 02 3500 dually would have the rotary (turn) style of switch.
If a 98.5 and up has the fog lights option the switch pulls out to activate them (only after you first turn the switch)

Rattlerbob is correct. The interior change occured for the 98.5 year designation. The dash differs a bit and some of the locations of things changed. The rotary headlight switch is a major change as is the shape of the entire dash area.
I have wondered in the past if any 12v CC got the newer dash there at the end as some QC's got the 12V.
Anyone?

98 was the year for the interior change as well as the dash.
98.5 means you got the 24 valve vp-44 engine instead of the (old) 12 valve
98 old style pull out headlight switch in new style dash
98.5 rotary style switch
Clear as mud ?

ok next question, how do i tell if my truck is an slt? the glove box sticker has an interior trim code on it. there is also a code on the rad support. anybody have a decoder? and the one i first decoder i looked at (maybe genos garage) does not specify the details
would a dodge dealer be able to tell me with the last 8 of my vin?

In 98' they made the quad cab an option and changed the dash, I thought all 98's had the pull out switches, then in 99' they went to the rotarys, as well as moving the power outlet down by the ashtray, and moving the airbag switch up beside the vents to where to power outlet was opening the cubby hole by the radio up for the heated seat option, and also changing the odometer from LCD to LED.
As far as plugging in the same I don't know for sure, but I am leaning towards no, do to the fact that on the 98's if you had fog lights the switch was in the same hole by the radio that the airbag switch is in, on the 99-02's it was on the rotary switch itself, that and a few other of the changes would lead me to believe probably a different wiring harness, but I'm not for sure on that one.
