pull the cover off the column, i would make sure you have power at the ignition switch itself.

If you got voltage at the inginition switch i would check the park safety switch.

I've troubleshot this on my 97 and on 98 but not sure if it's the same on yours. The following analysis is true on the 98-97 12v. I don't know if it's the same on yours but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a thread with schematics and lots of troubleshooting I provided (my user name is dave m on TDR):

http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...-no-start.html

The power to energize the starter relay (Pin 86 of the starter relay) in the PDC comes from the ignition switch thru the Park/neutral switch to energize the starter relay as long as pin 85 of the relay is GND. Pin 30 of the relay has 12v from fuse#2 in PDC. When the relay is energized it ouputs 12v on pin 87 of the starter relay on a BRN wire and goes to the starter solenoid on the starter.

If you don't have 12v at pin 86 of the starter relay in PDC it is due to bad wiring or connections or bad ignition switch or Neutral/safety switch. Due to the tilt steering wheel there could be chaffed wires in the steering column from the ignition switch.

If the contacts in the starter solenoid or the brushes in the starter are worn. the starter wont work and the solenoid wont click due to the ground circuit is through the starter brushes. there is a heavy duty repair kit available here

http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

I would check for voltage at the starter solenoid wire at the starter with the key turned to the start position and if voltage repair above and if not put the truck in neutral and try again as its probably the neutral safety switch. as they will usually go out in the park position first and still work in neutral.

I hope this helps

My started doing the same thing a while back
