I just turned the engine off with the lever on the IP and pulled the wires from the battery since when I turned the key to the off position everything was still ON.
Before I start tearing into it, is this something common? Like replace the ignition switch on the column?

Happened to me once also....loose ground wire, although it could be many things. Try the wire wiggle test first.

 

Do You mean the harness in the steering column?
